Béryl (a model) is unhappily married to Gaston, who is older than her and writes down his fantasies in some sort of diary. She would like to get rid of him but refuses to divorce. Her lover, Frank, has an idea - why not have him die of a heart attack as he has a heart condition. In order to achieve this she could use the services of a call girl agency. Beryl is reluctant, but soon discovers that Frank has settled everything without her consent. (A short-haired blonde and a brunette will thank him for the contract in their very physical way.) Three girls will come to Béryl's husband on his birthday when she will be away.
The first one to turn up is introduced as Corinne who is supposed to have been hired by Béryl to type Gaston's literature (fantasy scenes involving his former wife Chantal). The second one - a beautiful plump bonde - pops in as a camper drawn to his house by a storm. The third one introduces herself as Eva Monnier, a photographer friend of Béryl's. All three girls act out the man's fantasies (as told by his off-screen voice) until he dies in his stairway as they are masturbating in front of him. Meanwhile, as Frank shows too little interest in her, Béryl decides she will take her revenge on him (yet Diane Dubois' scene where she's dressed in black leather is her best to me). After her husband's death, Béryl learns that she won't inherit from him as he was still married to his first wife, Chantal (unfortunately unseen in the film!) and that they had had a son called Frank. Her very Frank who, now that he has come into his father's money, walks out on her. Obviously he had been planning this from the beginning of his affair with her. Béryl gets a gun and shoots him.

Shaun Costello SLAVE OF PLEASURE is a good mix of decent mystery story, arousing sex, and some downright sleaze and S&M action. Thats a lot to balance in one film - but this one pulls it off well. Hardcore Private-Dick, Dan McCord, is hired by an adulterating husband whose jealous girlfriend enacted a scheme to get his wife kidnapped and sold to a white-slavery ring. McCord calls in a favor and gets the scoop from an old acquaintance, Lefty - who clues McCord in on a ring involving a woman named Sultana who secures product for slave-trader, Henri Picard. Turns out that the crew uses a governmentally produced drug called UT-13 that seems to be a lot like the modern-day equivalent of Ecstasy, and makes victims horny and submissive, to control their cargo. The story follows McCord on his pursuit of information, and also along parallel lines documents the abuses of his clients wife at the hands (and cock) of Picard. We also see the devious girlfriend of McCords client punished severely for trying to renege on her end of the deal, in some decent and very real looking S&M, whipping, and humiliation action... SLAVE OF PLEASURE is the strongest of the McCord mysteries that Ive seen, as the sex is hot, the girls are hot, and the sleazy sexual torture at the end places this a little more firmly in the roughie ranks than the tamer entries. Jamie Gillis plays the soft-spoken but perverse and dominant role perfectly yet again and personally the film works on all levels to me. Not nearly as depraved as FORCED ENTRY or WATER POWER - but an all-around solid entry.IAFD

So THE NURSES was made for a tiny audience, hence on a low-budget. What is striking, however, is that it plays like a real film, albeit a very poor one. It does not resemble the hundreds of "1-day wonders" one sees in video reissues stemming from the 1970-71 early days of porn. Same team made a followup for Sherpix called YOUNG STARLETS, which I'm anxious to see, expecting pretty much more of the same.
I'm reviewing the DVD-R issue from Something Weird; more recently it has been revived on DVD in a "Naughty Nurses" double feature from After Hours Cinema.
Set in a hospital, film is a series of vignettes with very little carry-through storyline. While played straight (most of the cast can't act worth a lick, hired for other reasons), many scenes are conceived on the level of a battention - HACKER - attentionsque sketch, as in the opener of a poor schmo ordered to deliver a semen specimen, and getting the pretty femme lab assistant in the next room to "help out".
Problem of course is that lack of talent, both behind and in front of the camera, results in unfunny episodes. Sure, you can see where the joke is intended, but only groans are possible. Some of the women are marginally good-looking, but none of the stunning beauties from the softcore era nor the striking good-lookers like Suzanne Fields and Rene Bond from the XXX days are present. The guys are strictly no-namers too, and unusually hairy (all-over), perhaps a turn-on for some fetishist but hardly what proved to be successful in porn.
Though made for slightly wider release than a storefront movie, THE NURSES is still technically crude, with the loud sound of the camera motor evident in many scenes. It is not very arousing either, as in one slo-mo ejaculation closeup that comes off as comical. Even the lesbian scene by one aggressive Head Nurse Flanders lacks the usually sensual overtones that were standard in such scenes during the softcore heyday.
A couple of kinky scenes left me cold. In one, a young nurse applies an enema to her patient, while simultaneously having intercourse with him. Another extended gynecological exam has all the demerits of the soon-to-be overdone "gynecological closeups" approach to porn, without any of the pluses. Both scenes come off as literally clinical.
Overall THE NURSES shows filmmakers fumbling around seeking a new art form, awaiting the arrival of auteurs like Gerard Damiano with his great cameraman Joao Fernandes to show them how it's done.

Ah, the delightful Flight Sensations. This film IMHO is probably the last really good Seka film out there (has anyone seen American Garter? if you haven't, don't.) and features Seka and Desiree Cousteau as Air Hostesses.
Seka being the experienced trolley dolly, she takes Desiree under her wing, leading her down the garden path of sexuality....and recounting a great deal of sex scenes in the process. The most recognisable of which is the strap on "robot" dildo that a girl proceeds to use on Seka and Juliet Anderson.I've seen this film in several versions down the years, but haven't noted half the actors listed in the IAFD. All I have recognised are Seka, Desiree Cousteau, Connie Peterson, Desiree West, and Juliet Anderson. For the blokes I think there was Jamie Gillis, Mike Ranger, John Holmes, David Morris, and an unrecognisable Mike Horner (did this guy have a nose job in the late eighties?) maybe I've got a chopped version.....Though essentially a swedish erotica style wall-to-waller, (I think the air hostesses even wear THOSE neck scarves as well), it's thoroughly enjoyable stuff, and has that Golden Age charm that seemed to evaporate circa 1984. It's pretty much Seka's show, she's in every scene here, and thankfully, isn't as cold and wooden as she can be. Desiree Cousteau (unfortunately) only has one full scene at the end, but pretty much steals the show with her usual ditz act. Overall 3.25 on the Imperator scale, but this depends on whether your a Seka fan, obviously.
